Off the cuff: After the impressive victory over national power Michigan State, sports radio talk shows are once again talking about the possibility and probability that the Tar Heels will go undefeated. Who does that serve? Certainly not Carolina. There's enough pressure as it is. Carolina fans should just take one game at a time. We all went down this road last year when people were saying the Heels could go undefeated.

As I always say, win the conference regular season, beat Duke, win the ACC tournament and go as far as you can in the one-and-done NCAA tournament.

Ford Field is a terrible place to play basketball, especially with that raised floor. The atmosphere was lackluster. Obviously, it will be totally different for the Final Four but it's still a bad place to watch a game. One fan said he was on the fourth row and couldn't see well..

Heels 98, Spartans 63
Hansbrough, Tar Heels driving on all cylinders
No. 1 North Carolina perhaps got a preview of the Final Four location of Ford Field and the Tar Heels were driving on all cylinders in running over nationally ranked Michigan State by 35 points, 98-63. (12/3)

Tyler Hansbrough looked to be back in form after nagging injuries as he scored 25 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. But, once again, it was Ty Lawson who was driving the car as the speedster had eight assists and no turnovers to go along with his 17 points.

Ahead by just six points at 39-33 with five minutes left in the opening half, the Tar Heels poured it on, opening a 14-point halftime margin at 53-39. During the run, Lawson drilled a three and Wayne Ellington scored six, including two on a dunk.

The game never got closer as Carolina started the second half with a 14-2 run to make it 67-41 with less than 14 minutes to play. Hansbrough had eight of the points during the stretch.

"I think it's potentially the best team we've played against over the years," Michigan State coach Tom Izzo said. "You didn't see our real team tonight, but our real team might have lost by 20. They're definitely one of the best teams I've seen in my 25 years at Michigan State."

The Spartans are now 4-2 on the season. The Heels are 8-0 going into the exam break. Hansbrough has played in only four of the games and he only played 27 minutes against the Spartans. In fact, no Tar Heel played more than 30 minutes in the game.

Ellington scored 17 points while Deon Thompson and Ed Davis chipped in 10 each.
