North Carolina got 23 points from Reggie Bullock and 20 from James Michael McAdoo as the Tar Heels ran away from Wake Forest 87-62 for their sixth win in the last seven games. (2/5)
"Reggie and James Michael were big forces for us tonight," UNC coach Roy Williams said. "I said during the summer that those two would have to be big forces for us every game."
The Tar Heels led from the beginning but the game wasn't a blow out until they went on a 15-1 run over the last five minutes of the first half.
A three by Bullock and a three by P.J. Hairston, playing again after suffering a concussion against Boston College, highlighted the run.
The Tar Heels converted 18 points off Wake Forest turnovers in the first half.
Carolina extended the 47-27 halftime lead to as much as 34 points in the second half. Hairston, who finished with 11 points in only 12 minutes of action, banged in another three to make it 81-47 with six minutes to go.
Both teams were sloppy down the stretch. Carolina missed eight of its last nine shots while Wake added to its 21 turnovers.
The Tar Heels, who travel to first-place Miami Saturday, improve to 16-6 and 6-3 in the ACC while Wake Forest falls to 10-12 and 3-7 in the league.
